The Louvre Abu Dhabi: Amalgamates the artworks of east and west

The Louvre Abu Dhabi is a joint collaboration project of the Abu Dhabi and the French governments. The collaboration agreement between the two governments has been made for thirty years. The aim of the project is to set up a Louvre Museum in the city of Abu Dhabi and was originally scheduled to be completed by the year 2012. But now as per the latest estimates this project will be fully functional by the end of 2013.

After the completion of the project it will be an amazing piece of work. It is likely to increase the tourists inflow to Abu Dhabi from all over the world. The museum will exhibit the art works from all over the world. The art work will be both eastern as well as western. Thus it will bridge the gap between the two arts and will showcase them at one place.

Because no one will like to miss the opportunity to see this unique museum along with the other museums like Guggenheim Museum it is sure to make the Saadiyat Island a hot tourist place. It will also serve as place to know about the art and cultures of many parts of the world.
The Louvre Abu Dhabi is still under construction. But once its construction is complete it will be the most amazing infrastructure in Abu Dhabi. The main construction highlight of this museum is its dome. The dome has been designed in the form a floating dome. This exclusive design of the dome enough sunlight into the museum. The art work in the museum will be exhibited in two parts. The larger part will be dedicated to permanent artworks. Periodical exhibition of art works will be arranged in the other part of the museum.

This museum is being constructed in the Saadiyat Island Complex on an area of 24000 meters. The estimated cost of the project is about 83 to 108 million Euros. The project has been designed y architect Jean Nouvel. The engineers from Buro Happold are engaged in the construction of the project. The project agreement got the approval of the French parliament in October, 2009 and the construction started immediately after the approval.

Though the museum is constructed in Abu Dhabi but it will be maintained and managed by French Museum Agency with the help and support of Tourism Development and Investment Agency (TDIC) which is the brain behind this whole project.

The Louvre Abu Dhabi will serve two purposes after its completion. One the art works from all over the world will be seen at one place in Abu Dhabi. But the most important purpose is that it will serve s the center point to bridge the gap between the arts of the east and the west. In this way it will also serve as a focal point to bridge the cultures of the east and the west.

The project was not free from controversies from the start. The difference surfaced o the matter of exhibition of art works. It was argued that the exhibition of western art works may affect the Abu Dhabi culture. But now it has been finally agreed that the Louvre Abu Dhabi will exhibit only those art pieces which are not against the cultural values of Abu Dhabi.
